Take Action from Home

Don't have a mission Field? Home can be your mission field. Witness to friends, family, and strangers with the true Biblical method that Jesus used himself in Matthew 19 and Luke 18. The people at Living Waters ( http://www.livingwaters.com/ ) make a video called "Hell's Best Kept Secret" which outlines this method. They also have a course you can get through their site to help build your confidence (this video is included among others). Of course, start by reading the passages! Living Waters also has a variety of Gospel tracts. I really like the "Are you a good Person?" tract. I find it to be humorous, and it doesn't portray the unbeliever as an absolute demon. Yet it is very clear, showing that ANY sin is a violation of God's law and there MUST be consequences. Who paid those consequences is the real kicker and certainly the whole point of the salvation message itself. The Good news IS presented very well in my opinion. Also, it is available in English, French, and Spanish now.

Something else you can do for the mission field is make parachutes! GALCOM is an organization that sends the Gospel message via Christian radio to people in areas where it is hard to get missionaries in. They put up towers all over the world to transmit the Gospel and make solar radios with a back-up set of batteries to deliver it to the people. They send the radios and tracts from an airplane in parachutes. That's where we come in. We can make the parachutes!
I found a parachute pattern in "Voice of the Martyrs" magazine and had heard about a man sending parachutes into guerilla camps in Colombia. Many of their soldiers are c
aptives themselves and are in need of a Saviour as well. Here's what the pattern was like concerning Colombia - I assume a similar one is used for the other 125+ countries.

Directions:
1: Pray for Colombia as you make the parachutes.
2: Use the pattern, (see image), and cut a circle of white cloth
(I asked and they said any pattern/colour would be fine)
     - cotton or polyester - 22 inches in diameter.
3: Using a marker, print "Dios es Amor" (Gos is Love) on the              cloth. Please do not write English words or another language.
4: With a sewing machine - use a zigzag stitch to attach six 30             inch, nylon cords (1/8-inch thick) to the cloth.
5: Seal the tips of the cords by burning them. Adults should do
this! (burn the cords separately, not together)
6: Fold the strings inside the parachute.

In addition to making parachutes, the willing are needed to go on short term mission trips to help set up new towers in place
s not yet reached. I believe they are currently getting ready for a trip to Albania.

AND...if you live near one of the headquarters, you could volunteer in building the radios.

Every 'little' bit helps.

I especially like this wonderful testimony I found on the US site: http://www.galcomusa.org/

Testimonies...

"I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be

ashamed."  Psalms 119:46

Occasionally we will hear a story of how just one radio has reached

many people for Christ.  It is as if God has sent His angel before each

radio and prepared the way.  The following are some stories of what just

one radio can do in the hands of a Mighty God:

One radio in Haiti Men for Missions International has been distributing

Galcom radios in Haiti fix-tuned to 4VEH Christian radio in Cape

Haitian as part of Operation Saturation Haiti.  During a recent trip to Haiti

they decided to follow the steps of just one radio to access the results of

the Galcom Go-Ye radio outreach.  Here is what was reported by Gene

Bertolet, OpSat Prayer Coordinator:

"One of the outstanding events during a recent trip to Haiti by a

Men for Missions group was to follow the steps of one radio which had

been given to an EE technician, who in turn had given the solar

powered radio to her father.  After listening to Radio 4VEH for about

three months, her father accepted Jesus as his Savior.  He then gave

the radio to his friend, a witch doctor.  The witch doctor, too, accepted

the Lord.

"One morning this young EE technician took our team to the

home of her father, about 45 minutes away.  As the father gave

his clear testimony others gathered around.  After two hours 17

more people had accepted the Lord.

"Then they went to the witch doctor's home, which was a fifteen

minute walk through the countryside into a valley.  As they came up to

his home, there was a white cloth covered table with a Galcom solar-

powered radio in the middle of it.

"When the witch doctor came out of the house, he graciously seated

his guests.  Once again they heard a clear testimony of salvation.  He said,

'No one comes to me as a witch doctor anymore, for they know I have

accepted Jesus.'   Twelve of his thirteen children had accepted Christ,

but not his wife.  As people gathered around, one of our team walked

over to the witch doctor's wife who was shelling corn.  In a caring

manner he talked to her and others nearby.  At the close of their time

together, five more had accepted the Lord, including the witch doctor's

wife.   "One of the team members said,  'As I think about Operation

Saturation - from this one radio, 36 people accepted the Lord.  What

an investment.'   And this all happened within the space of four months. "
